I've found a way to ride together on the weekend that works for both
my wife and me. I'll go out early and do my style of ride, then I'll
rendezvous with her somewhere and ride her pace and route. That way,
I'm content to ride at an easy pace, and she doesn't feel as if
she's holding me back.

Don't worry about it. Even Lance averaged only 21.3 mph on the
Plateau de Beille stage. And he had a team to pull him across the
flats.
