I'm inclined to agree with you, but note this: For over 25 years, the
REMA patch instructions have said something to the effect "vulcanizes
without heat" (well, in german, something like 'ohne hitze', but I don't
have it with me and my german is terrible).

Point is, if it's a misstatement to call the resulting process
"vulcanization", the misuse is widespread.
