Well gosh.
I suppose that's one of the advantages of previously being very
overweight but still fairly active even then. I lost all the weight
but kept most of my leg muscle mass. So I mainly just had to build
up some decent base miles and lose the weight and I became reasonably
speedy.
Now I'm curious how most people's improvement curve worked for their
first year or two of cycling. I did a fast double century (STP) almost
precisely at my one year cycling anniversary.
