Follow right-of-way rules and everything else
just naturally falls into place. Except when
other road users don't follow the rules. That's
when you've gotta be predictful instead of
predictable.

Right-of-way rules are not "idealized notions
of the traffic system" -- they're how it
/really/ works. Plain & simple.

Sometimes there are exceptions. That's what
signage is supposed to handle. No more, no less.
