| It depend on what you think is "not too expensive".
If you mean for less than the cost of a dinner for 4 at a good steakhouse, then you won't find one.
If you mean you want a good solid bike that will last the rider awhile and you are OK with spending $250 to $400 then the choices are pretty good. By the way, at this price the bikes are considered "sport" bikes or "all terrain" bikes for use on road, and off road up to rain rutted trails... definitely not for jumping or ramping or downhilling.
I would suggest that you go to your local bike shop, explain your needs, and present your budget. You can get nice bikes from Diamondback, Raleigh, Ironhorse, and K2 that will do the trick.
Forget full suspension, and forget disc brakes. Get a good solid bike that is well outfitted and the bike will last a looong time.
