Training programs for my first century ride...

...(100-miles)? I will be cycling in my first 100-mile tour (not a race). Any tips for training, diet, hydration, pre-ride, etc?

You don't actually have to ride 100 miles at a time for training, but you should be comfortable riding five or six days a week, most of the rides being at the 30-40 mile mark, and once or twice a week going out for 50-70 miles. I would suggest taking a whole summer to build up to those levels, depending on your fitness and ability.Stay hydrated days before the event, eat lots of spag, and enjoy!

Spin classes, cross training and actual time in the saddle. Find your local bike shop sometimes they will have training rides that will cater a workout to people trying to get in shape for a century.
