What changes in technique should I make when switching from a triple to a compact...

...crank? I usually ride the middle chain ring of my triple, and only drop to my granny gear for long climbs. Ocaisionally I'll go to the outer ring to speed down hill. What do I do when using a compact crank? Ride one or the other? Switch back and forth? or what?
