Buying bike from Halfords?

I am thinking about buying a bike and am going to go to Halfords today. Can you usually walk out with a bike or o you need to order it?

i brought a bike from there a few month's ago and its great the bargin of the year, we went in on the off chance, just looking, and found 1 for 99:99, and they offered to put it together as well, great price and great service, and after a couple of weeks something went wrong and i went back and asked them if i'd puy it together wrong and they just put it right for me so i'd give them 10/10

I'm not a huge fan of Halfords but their prices aren't bad and the bigger stores will usually have the size of bike you want in stock.

Make sure you pick the right frame size and ask for a test-ride before you buy. Also, never buy mountain "style" bikes with crappy plastic pedals and comedy suspension - they last all of 2 months and then go rusty, make funny noises and are horrible to ride.

Depending how much you're spending, see if you can get a deal on a saddle; a decent one will cost you about £25-£40
so if you can get it thrown in for free or for half-price it's well worth asking (believe me, they CAN give you a lower price).
A good seat is well worth having because it makes for a nicer
more comfortable ride - don't buy a "big" seat, they look comfortable but they will chaff your thighs like crazy so choose one that is fairly narrow.

I hope you have fun on your new bike, and ride safe :-)

Depends if they have it in stock, they would normally need some time to set-up the bike for you, shouldn't take > 20 minutes unless they're really busy.
Remember to get all the the usual accessories you'll need at the same time:
Quality Lock,
Lights,
Helmet,
Reflective coat,
Pump and repair kit etc

Walk in pick your bike take it to the counter pay for it & walk out with it.

If it is not in stock then you will need to order it.

Normally you can walk out with it there and then but if you intend to bring it away today make sure they set it up for you , by that i mean set the height of the seat , to do this stand at the side of the bike and get them to adjust it so the seat is level with your hip then when you get on it the pedals should be in reach for you and away you go, just get them to check that the brakes have been set and dont forget its advisable today to wear a helmet as well so try and get them to throw one of those in with the cost, happy cycling
