What should I do if my bike cost more to fix then the price I bought it for?

I dropped my bike in a turn the other day. Luckily, I am all right (just some bruises, nothing broken). However, the bike that I paid $2900 for (used 03 vulcan 500) just got an estimate of 4 grand to fix. What should I do? Should I try to sell the parts, or try to find the parts and get another mechanic? What would you do?

If you want the bike.. find cheaper parts.. they are ripping you off..

OR just get a whole new one..

you should be able to fix the bike yourself, i hope. buy used parts try ebay fix yourself is cheaper pay someone else to paint the bike when fixed. sounds like you went to dealer for estimate-don't do that. most parts are somewhat easy to install-replace. can buy a repair manual to help- $50.00 at dealer. GOOD LUCK!!!

Disassemble the bike and part it out on ebay,it will be worth more in parts than you will ever get out of it selling it whole or repairing it.

That's considered a total loss. That $4,000 would get you a newer bike.
