UCI, ASO reach agreement to avoid cycling meltdown

The International Cycling Union and the ASO came to a short-team compromise that will allow teams to race in Paris-Nice and other Pro Tour events this season.

Although the organizations are still fighting over who controls the sport, an agreement was reached Mondaythat allows the top 18 teams, as well as two teams as "wild cards" for each event.

Both sides have set September 21, 2007 as a date to reach a final compromise.
