Untrue -- NJ simply requires a permit for interstate cycling. I've
known a number of cyclists who've ridden NJ Interstates and other
limited-access highways.
Adventure Cycling at least used to maintain a good directory of the
requirements for riding on Interstates throughout the U.S. -- which
routes were closed, whom to contact at the state for current
information, etc. If the information in my old copy is current, to
get your New Jersey permit for Interstate cycling, contact
