vasectomy recovery time

Scheduled to take one for the team in mid March...just about when the
weather will break in the spring. Dr. said to expect to wait a week before
resuming exercise but said it might take significantly longer for cycling.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Only a fly on the wall in your doc's exam room can say whether he or she
really said that (although it sounds quite plausible).

Oh, wait -- you mean if what the doc /reportedly/ said was correct!
Different matter.

My friend who had the snip-snips was back on his mtb in ~2 weeks IIRC; good
as new (well, considering!) after 3 weeks or so...

I think you'll hear a variety of stories, confirming only that it varies
with the individual. I have to remember back a ways, personally (which may
itself invalidate the data, since medical tech has advanced since then) but
ISTR it was a couple of weeks before I was comfortable "clenching" for
extended periods, and longer than that before pressure (such as compression
from cycling shorts) was tolerable for very long.

But once the incisions have healed (a few days) and the swelling (if any) is
gone, it will do no harm to try -- only to push the issue if it hurts too
much. Don't sign up for any races or schedule your car into the shop around
then.
