| | | Transmission fluid as a chain lubricant? I use auto transmission fluid on the chain of my motorcycle, as a lot
of motorcyclists do. Chains on motorcycles are different from bicycles,
however, in that they contain grease inside the links, which is the
primary lubricant. The trans fluid serves mainly to protect the
external parts of the chain from the elements.
I'm wondering if this would be good to use on bicycle chains as well. | |

As long as you wipe off any excess, its just oil.
