| Snow, the Gym and Disco I finally decided to push myself on the stationary bike at the gym last
night. I went 15 miles keeping my heartheart up and at the speed the
bicycle reccomends. At first this was a test to see if I am going to be
able to ride 25 miles outdoors in the MS ride. This is like comparing
apples to oranges. I really don't think going to the gym is preparing
me for riding outdoors. As I read your postings, I realize that
outdoor cycling involves alot more than being able to pedal. Various
things contribute to your ride. In the gym, you are in one place, you
are not getting a flat, the temperature stays the same, and you can
lose your eyes and listen to music. I did my 15 miles and the I worked
out on the weight machines. Tonight I do 15 min. warm up on the bike
and then I work with my trainer. I am beginning to love the gym and
the way it is making me feel. I feel as passionate about it as some of
you feel about cycling. Maybe the bike was only the kick start I
needed to get back into the mindset of exercise. Maybe you were all
right...cycling is not going to be my thing. The gym is fabulous, I can
workout whenever I want and it's very social. I went to the gym last
night with my daughter and her two friends. They were impressed. I am
impressed. I think I found what works for me. And I owe it all to a
bike. A bike I have not been able to ride. Go figure....life is
strange. All roads lead you home.
