thank you for your explanation. i ended up paying a bike store to do it
right. given my ineptitude, if i followed your instructions, i would
have done damage. i could not see the screw you were describing. all i
saw was the wire going down the center and beside the left front brake
shoe. there was also a fat little barrel that may have contained the
spring you were talking about, but i was afraid to ruin things. my
experience has been that i ruin things.


thanks though.

i hate being inept and not having someone skilled show me how to do it
right.
