I'm looking at all the frost on the ground out there, trying to get the
courage to get dressed and out there. It's going to be one cold morning. And
it's very cozy here in a big flannel nightie, with a cup of tea, and seated
at the computer.

my commute this morning was -2C and snowing & i had the roads to myself.
if i'm ever going to meditate on a bicycle, claire, it's going to be on a
snowy late fall commute. looped another 2 miles at the end.
i only wish i'd had a fender.

Fenders make life so much nicer. My commute this morning was
in 5C weather with moderate rain. It was so nice to have
fenders. Did I mention that fenders make life easy?
Last year I bought those plastic kind that screw on with just
one screw. Very easy to install. Cheap. There's no reason
not to get 'em.

i get pretty nostalgic about the stripe up by back especially in the winter.
besides fenders get all mucked up with snow.

I wish it would hurry up and get "cold" here. Yesterday was partly cloudy in the
mid 80s, and today looks to be more of the same. The lowest temp this week looks
to be about 50 on Friday. That may sound great to you far northerners stuck in
snow, but, I haven't seen a good snow in years. It would be nice to have a real
winter.

It was especially difficult since my daughter was up (normally I'm gone
before she's awake). She was very cuddly and cute, and I would much rather
have stayed and cuddled her than head out to work. But I thought it was
actually fairly nice out. Cold yes, but sunny, dry, and not windy. So not
too awful really.
How was the marshy bit right after West Lake Washington Way? It was frosty
with some icy bits scattered about when I cycled through.

Last week on a clear Saturday morning I climbed the 800 m vertical
distance to my choir rehearsal. Up there was fresh sparkling snow, blue
sky, and -10 °C. I had good protection for the ears but on the way down, in
the shadow of the north slope, the top of my skull felt like just scalped.

Hmm yeah I know the feeling. Today I wanted very much to ride, as
I did commute and what a kick that was to my metabolism after 2
weeks of sitting inside!
Darn viruses, seems the next one is coming up now :-(
But at least I don't need to be afraid of the cold and conditions
anymore! (I hope...)
