Cracked red hands

This cold weather is not doing my hands any good... my skin is bright
red, cracked, and flaking. The other night when I put on my gloves my
hands were burning like they were on fire... Water seems to make them
worse. I think that the primary cause is sweaty gloves and cold
weather.

Any tips to help clear this up? (that don't include not riding). I've
been carrying two pair of cheap gardening gloves to wear inside of my
warmer gloves, one to ride in to work and one to ride home in and
washing them frequently. Creams and lotions just seem to make it burn
more without doing much to clear them up. Just remembered my tin of
bag balm from a few years back -- might give that a try tonight. Any
other ideas?

Besides going to the doctor for medication gold bond is a good product as is
aveeno. Glaxol Base is hypo-nonallergenic and best for sensitive skin which
might be your best all round choice. London Drugs now have their copy cat
for $3 less. $16 for a big jar of the Glaxol.
A german product I have called Glysolid wicks moisture from the air into
your skin. It is for sensitive skin and lasts for hours. Glycerin is the
main ingredient so anything with that and no perfume will work well.

yes, any one of those really good therapeutic lotions. Another good one
is uremol, or aquatain. Apply them at night so they really soak in.
ANother hand cream i like is neutrogena. You only need a little bit,and
it feels really greasy, but then it soaks in. Having cracks in your skin
is unhealthy- infections can enter through skin breaks. It's not just
about having nice smooth hands!

My sister had dry cracking hands and a dermatologist prescribed
Vanicream and that helped. If you don't want to go to the doc, try one
of the other hand creams recommended. Marlene was talking about
Neutragena Hand Cream. Put the cream on thick then put on a pair of
gloves. The lotion with gloves on will help deep moisturize your
hands.
