I was working on the crossword, and the clue was "Tour De France racer".
This should be easy, I thought, "Lance Armstrong". But it was only four
letters. Four letters! What racer in the TdF could be well enough known to
be a crossword puzzle answer and be only four letters!
Peņa? Maybe. Mayo? Possibly. Lotz, Loda, Velo, Piil I rejected as too
obscure for the crossword puzzling public.
The answer was, of course, "B-I-K-E".
D'oh!

Not to forget ANDY and RAUL.

Well, ok then. But that word does get misspelled often - even by
frequent posters here (sorry, Bruce! heh.), so it's an easy mistake to make
to assume it was again. You don't have to look too far to find it... First
I thought it was a play on Merck, the pharmaceutical giant, which many
around here might think was a more appropriate answer for the puzzle
question. So there ya go.
