What was your best bicycle Xmas present?.....

Mine was the Baggins Little Joe saddlebag that my wife gave me. Like
all the Rivendell products I've used, the quality is top notch and
it's very functional. Should come in handy on those long rides next
summer. Maybe someday I'll have one of their custom bicycles under the
tree to go with it.

My wife bought me all 3 of Lance Armstrong's books. I can't wait to start
reading...

Mine was a relatively empty credit card and a trip to the Sports Junkies
Boxing Day sale.*

Urp. $180 later, here's what I got:

2 pairs of Axo SPD shoes, one "Winter" high-ankle, one low-ankle
(nominally a mountain shoe, but I'll hit the road with 'em)

2 saddles, the last two Selle Italia Nitrox that I really like ($2 ea!)

2 tires, because I needed tires

leg and arm body armor

A Lazer helmet, which I needed not at all, but which fit very well and
was $20.

1 Nexave rear derailleur
1 LX front derailleur
1 short, light stem

A teeny tiny seat wedge bag.

Oooh... Must have been the turkey...

*In Canada, Boxing Day sales are like "Black Friday" post-Thanksgiving
sales in the US: door-crasher specials, merchandise clearance, etc.

Eggbeater S.

I got SPD sandals for my birthday back in September, both the
Shimano and the Lake models, but I asked for the wrong size.
I must send the Shimanos back to Nashbar before I've waited too long
(probably too late already); but I think I can deal with the Lakes
in their current size. They don't sell the Lakes anymore.

I ought to mount the pedals to the bike and the cleats to the
sandals and ride tomorrow!

Mine was a CycleOps Fluid trainer. It is an amazing device in that the
resistnace changes simply by shifting gears.

Now I just need a spare wheel to use on it.

Santa brought me a new carbon fiber road frame and Dura-Ace component group.
Putting it together will be a snow day project.

I got a long sleeve Schwinn jersey. Kind of rare these days. I guess it's a
collector's item, from the days when Schwinn was really Schwinn.....

Re: What was your best bicycle Xmas present?.....

Not Christmas, but Boxing Week discoveries:

- Hozan truing stand - new. Weighs about 50 pounds.

- Campagnolo Victory crankset. This gets converted to a triple with 35, 42
and 53 rings. Thanks Ryan!

- 110 BCD double crankarms (Sugino GT) at a bike shop closeout. After Tyler
Hamilton's Tour exploits, 110 crankarms will be selling as fast as they can
be made for hundreds of $ a set. However, the 80's vintage GTs are forged
lightweight units that are as good as any non-racer would ever need. I got
two sets of these for 15 Canadian Pesos each.

Dura-Ace 7402 rear derailleur - new. Don't know what to do with this, but
it was so pretty that I needed it.

Now if I could find some C-Record hi-flange hubs at a yard sale, my life
will be complete.
