A Good runner's watch?

I'd like to buy a Timex watch for my boyfriend for Christmas but I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed with the variety of watches they have. All, I know is that I'm looking for a watch that's not too big or heavy. I'm looking for something that he can time his runs with, a stopwatch would be good too. Nothing too crazy and complicated, such as GPS. I'd love it to have a variety of speed and distance features.
Any tips or/and advice would be highly appreciated!! Happy Holidays!!
