I s a mountain bike, cruiser or a road bike better?

Need it mainly to ride around my neighborhood and on some local trails (pavement trails). I also would be pulling a Bicycle Trailer with my 30 lb child in it.
Which bike is best for this?
Thanks!
:-)

I'll 2nd the hybrid - perfect for pulling a trailer and riding pavement. I'd say no to a 1 speed cruiser (if that's what you meant) Gears will help with the extra load or no load for that matter.

Sorry, I don't like compromise. Thumbs down on hybrid. Get a mountain bike.

Hybrids aren't fast enough to keep up with the roadies, and can't cut it on singletrack.

If you like minivans, and want to keep your soccer mom image intact, go with the hybrid. Otherwise, get a nice MTB and work on your motor. When your 30lb child becomes a 200lb teenager, you'll have a head start on conditioning and can thrash him soundly in his first MTB race.

Edit: A nice road bike looks silly pulling a trailer, and you shouldn't pull a trailer on the road anyway.

I think a hybrid bike, not a cruiser for pulling a trailer and child. You will like the gearing for the extra weight you will be pulling.
They call them Multi-Street at this site.
