MTB Disk Brake noise???

runnin on a standard 2007 kona stinky with standard Hayes HFX 9 brakes.

issue i've found when riding is an unusual noise coming from the brakes somehow - its hard to explain the noise.

If i tap my disk on standstill it sounds like a metalic vibration noise - as if its not tight enough - and this is more evident when riding.

I thought maybe the spokes need tightening - no.
Maybe the disk or the mount need tightening - no.
maybe the sprung clips on the pads need squashing with pliers to prevent vibration - no.

i've removed reflectors - tightened and cable tied all cables and tubes and i'm still not finding the fault.

Is it possible to overtighten discs???

has anyone else experienced this issue as it's doing my head in. The brakes still perform well, nothing bad there.

anyone can shed info it would be good - stop me thinking i'm going insane atleast.
unfortunately not floating - although good point.
the rotors not rubbing.

If the bike is just gainst the wall and I lightly flick the rotor i get the same noise (which is hard to explain without a recording of it)- so poss not forks.

when riding i have no noise on braking - nothing. but when just riding without brakes, simple things on the road for for eg.

thinking about it though - you know when you tip your bike when pedalling in a side to side motion, thats when its most prominent..........possibly the knobbly tires are more knobbly at the edge near the walls. causing more vibration.......hmm (this is an unusual post lol) - i'll have to look when i get home.

are they floating disks?
on the disk is there round spacer type of things at the end of the spokes before the disk braking surface?
if so it a floating disk and the noise is normal
they are ment to move abit
