I have asked for a bike for Christmas; I plan on riding on and off-road, including on trails and other non-road surfaces. However, I won't be pulling any "crazy tricks" on my bike.

Is the 2008 Jamis Durango 1 a fitting bike for my riding intentions? Also, is $500 a fair price to pay for one? It seems like a good buy and a good bike all around, but what are your opinions?
