Sounds like you are a prime candidate for one of the 29'er models out there. Gary Fisher/ Kona.

You should also look at the Kona Hoss - its built for us clydesdales....

seing as ur quit tall id say go for a XL bike. its really hard to say over Y!A, so i recommend going into a bike shop and asking their. it all really depends on the style of riding ur going to be doing, road riding, cross country, dirt jumping, downhill.. staff at a bike shop can find a bike for u, within ur budget(if u hav one) and set u up with a nice new rig

Tim---for a tall rider ---some bikes have XL sizes ( though you wouldn't notice the difference of a size 29" mt. bike which IS just your rig!) Plenty to choose from---Giant (no pun intended), Intense,Haro,Cannondale,Rocky Mountain,Seven and more are splendid brands. Please take time to read the Mountain Bike action website (www.mtbaction.com). Also, www.bikemag.com,EBAY (www.ebay.com) ---Sporting goods category, and www.mtbr.com ---Ride out there!
