These are great answers. Quick question: do bike shops have a problem with helping fit a bike out and taking time to do all that work if i will then end up shopping around for best price?

Phoster is correct. Best bet would be to go to the MFG website and look at there geometry chart (most mfg's have one) this will tell you what you need to measure to get the mfg's size. A lot of mfg's are going with the S, M, L sizing system, which I personally do not like. If you are in between sizes, your screwed(sure you can adjust other areas of the bike to get it to fit, but as consumers, spending tons on bikes, why should we have to?) I don't want to have to get that shorty stem to make the medium fit, or put in 25 spacers to make the small fit. I want the 50cm to be too small, the 54cm to be too big and the 52cm to be just right. If only having 3 sizes of bike is saving so much money, why are bike prices not coming down?(ok so they have come down a little, but not enough to warrant the need to "make a bike fit"

Sorry, went off on a little rant there.
