what do you guys think of this bicycle?

i'm thinking of buying my first racing bike, and on quite a tight budget, being a student and all that.

Looks good, I suggest that when you get it you adjust the handel bars, because in that pic they are tilted way too far forward.

For road bikes and racing bikes i would search for 'Marin Bikes' i've got a road/racing bike from them and it's great, very sturdy and reliable and light. Also not too expensive

looks fine to me,,I had a hand made racing cycle untill some spotty oik stole it,,,,but if it`s speed you want then only you can provide that, although the limitations of only 12 gears will hinder you a bit,,,however that is less important than the fact that you will get hours of fun and good exercise from it,,buy a really good chain for it or remove the front wheel every time you leave it anywhere,,,something I didn`t do,,,
For just £99 plus P&P it is a bargain,,,,

12 speed? That went out in the 80's. Sorry, but this bike is rock bottom end quality wise. It's not going to hold up to any serious riding. You may want to look into something used. I don't want to sound negative, but I don't like to see people buy junk that's not going to last a year.

Can't think anything about it without seeing it first hand, but a few red flags immediately jump out at me:

1. 12 speed - no one has made decent 12 speed bikes in at least a decade. Current road machines have 10 gears in the cluster yielding 20 speeds with 2 chainrings or 30 if you've gone for 3.
2. Stem shifters - These have been obsolete since the mid 80's
3. Tensile steel - In this context, suspect.

These bikes are either of very cheap current manufacture, or they've been sitting in a warehouse for 25 years. Might be suitable for basic transportation, but certainly not for actual racing.
