Whats the best way to make a left hand turn on a bicycle? - Cycling Mob: Road Cycling, Mountain Biking and More

Like an intersection for example..is it better to get in the left hand turn lane (just like a car would) OR is it better to stay in the far right lane and make like a "capital "L" to turn left?

ok....well getting into the left lane is the perfect way to get hit by a car...*not trying to sound mean* lol
when i bike ride, i usually press that button by the corner on the pole. that makes the traffic lights turn red so i can cross...if u didnt already know...its much safer that way...
