Giant Boulder Disc or Rincon?

I am getting a MTB for my B'day next month and am looking at a giant Rincon or Boulder disc, reading the other Qs Giant seems like the best brand what bike is the best from giant, the boulder disc is $539 AU and the Rincon is $639AU i want to start going into offroad races, what bike would suit my needs or is there a better bike for a similar price or cheaper from another brand?

i would apreciate the advice
