Don't waste your money on a gel saddle, it won't do you any good.(or a towel for that matter!

You really need to try out as many saddles as you can to find a good fit. The secret is to make sure the bones in your butt are well seated first and you will have to become acclimatise to the saddle which will take 6 hrs+

My advice :- try lots of saddles and pick one thats suits you.

Bicycle saddles will hurt for a while, especially if you haven't been riding much. You have three different adjustments: fore/aft, tilt (nose up or down), and height. Any or all of these three will affect how your saddle feels. Stem length will also affect how your saddle feels. A longer, low rise stem will have you stretched out, thus riding more on your pubic bone. A shorter/higher stem will have you sitting more on your butt bone (coccyx?). If I were you, I'd experiment with different saddle positions. A gel saddle pad is kinda' lame. If you plan on doing any serious cycling, you'll need to buy yourself some proper cycling shorts with a padded chamois. Yeah, they are expensive, but that's just the way it is. I can ride maybe an hour without cycling shorts. Any longer, and I'm missing my chamois in a big way.
