Tools for adjusting Trek bike?

I have a Trek bike and need allen wrenches for adjusting several parts of the bike, but don't know if I need metric (I'm guessing yes) or US standard size wrenches.

Also, if there's a portable kit that has just the few necessary wrenches, could anyone please give me a brand name? Thank you!

Yes the are metric. Here's a popular bike site that sell them and there are many more places on-line: http://www.nashbar.com/subcategories.cfm?category=600099

Metric hex wrenches are available anywhere tools are sold. If you just need them your hardware store or even Wal Mart would have a set.

The best thing for general tightening etc. is a multi tool. The US imports that I have come accross, although having the brakes reversed, still use Metric, rather than Imperial measures. If you want a reasonable bike kit, you can get them off of e-bay for about £40 ($80). These come with useful things like cone spanners, chain tools and peddle wrenches. However, for home, Metric allen keys, adjustable wrench, peddle spanner (Thinner metal than normal), tyre irons, screw drivers, should do fine.

Luck

All your fasteners on a Trek bike are metric. There is a common tool called a 3 way. But you wouldn't use it as a take-along tool, it's great at home.

Look at this web site, they have all the tools you would ever need and a ton you never thought of. Get one of the multi-tools and you can use it at home and on the road.
