spinning class...what can u tell me about it?

tonight i am taking my first spinning class and am just curious about what to expect..i know its a stationary bike exercise class but what EXACTLY am i in for? its a beginner class but still...how intense is it? how should i stretch beforehand? the website says it " simulates hills, valleys, peaks and flat roads" so does that mean i have to change the resistance on the bike accordingly or are the bikes synched up so it automatically changes resistance? thanks for any info or advice u can give me

p.s i emailed these questions to the woman running the class but she hasnt replied yet and im not sure she can answer before the class begins..im a little nervous cuz i heard its pretty high powered and intense haha

I went to my first spinning class a few weeks ago. They say not to stretch until your warmed up so the class starts out with easy peddling for a while. Then they ask you to turn up the resistance for a short time and then back down. This is repeated several times. It is only as tough as you want it to be. Have fun with it.

55 has it right.

Don't worry about it, just show up ready to go. Spinning is a pretty neat concept. Its as easy..... or as brutal as you want make it. A good class leader can make you really kick your own butt.

it really depends on the instructor. If you find a good one that plays good music and whose class challenges you the right amount you'll love it. If you don't like it, I would suggest going back at a different time to try a different instructor. I really like spinning, I always walk out dripping with sweat and exhausted. Have fun, bring water and a small towel, and I hope you have padded shorts cause your bum is gonna hurt.
