Are you tired of seeing only bike parts available in *black* only?

Mountain Bike companies seem to only make their components only in either: #1 Black, #2 Silver, possibly sometimes white.

It's 2008 now and consumers still have such a limited range of color options.

I know there are things companies have to worry about such as costs and it is just easier to go with the mentality that black matches anything. But really, as the consumer this is just damn boring, mundane and even frustrating.

What I have done to a lot of parts I have is painted them on my own, but still it would be great if manufacturers would come out with more color options like Chris King for example.

So start your own custom parts business and see how well they sell...... it might be the next big thing. Or not.

Personally, I look at price and performance. Performance is the priortity for my racing gear, price the priority for everyday riding.

Fashion and color, other than bright and reflective clothing to make myself more visible, are secondary. If I can color coordinate for the same price or very close, I'll do it, but otherwise its not on the radar.

Am I alone in thinking this way? I don't know. I can't speak for the rest of the world.

It is extraordinarily expensive to have different colors especially when anodizing parts. On top of that, the alloys of the different parts and the method of coloring will affect its shade. As it would turn out, black and silver are the only relatively reliable colors that can be done. King stuff is high end and they can "afford" to spend the time and money it takes to keep consistent coloring.

So, would you prefer to have affordable parts, or would you prefer to have color? The consensus is that affordable parts is the preference.
