Street Smarts is excellent. Sounds like exactly what's needed here.

Urban Bikers' Tricks & Tips is a good read, but I recommend it only with
hesitation. Here's the problem: for many traffic situations, the author
(Dave Glowacz) gives what he calls "Sly Bikers Only!" tips, highlighted
by a cartoon "Sly Biker" with a devilish grin, pointing to his head as
if to say "Boy, am I smart!"

Well, that "Sly Biker" is often a real ass. As an example, "The
Shortcut Left Turn" involves dodging left, riding north in the
southbound lane, riding up onto the sidewalk, etc. before turning left.
IMHO, Glowacz was irresponsible to print that sort of nonsense.

I agree.

Probably, that's the problem with giving advice on traffic cycling.

Maybe it worked for Glowacz. Maybe it didn't. I've heard of him.

Is he still up and running?

I know EC is boring and many here see it as a trite answer to a
sophomoric question. But it really is the fastest, most efficient
way to achieve a skill level that will at least put you in competition.
