I think the chemical is acetic acid. Some people are highly allergic to ethyl
cyanoacrylate aka "Super Glue" or "CA". Others can become allergic to it over
time with repeated exposures. The stuff will fog plastic and eat foam. I
certainly wouldn't want to put it in an open wound. The type used for sutures
is 2-octyl cyanoacrylate.

Using the "odorless CA" available in most hobby shops or alkoxyalkyl
cyanoacrylate *MIGHT* be safer, since is much less reactive and generates
fewer fumes than standard CA.

the super glue is NOT pleasant if you get it into an open wound,
stings like crazy. BUT if you get the edges together, and glue the
SKIN, its fine. The other nice thing is that it seems to last a couple
days, and when it comes off, the wound has knitted together.

portable operating room.

after you get home, road rash is a whole
'nother story.

the summary of what I've found best is:
- buzzcut if surrounding area if hairy...
- 10+ minute warm shower
- unpleasant scrub with washcloth/mushroom brush + soap
- pat dry w/ clean lintless towel
- sprayer mist with hydrongen peroxide
- pat dry w/ clean lintless towel
- smear with a little "bag balm" antiseptic
- cover with saranwrap and tape with clear box tape

.... repeat 2x/day for probably 4 days or so.
then, be SURE to sunscreen the heck out of the new skin!

the "keep is moist" approach seems to heal faster as long as you are
careful about infection, and the saran wrap keeps you from sticking to
cloths and sheets.
