Don't feel too bad. I recently admitted to packing around
two mini-pumps (a good one, and a loaner). I also frequently
carry table cutlery. In fact I'm just about to go do a
laundromat run. There's a nearby Chinese food place with a
cheap but tolerable $2.50 combo; I'll have some lunch at an
also nearby park while my clothes are in the wash. But I
won't bother taking the usual tools, spare tubes, pump(s), etc.
Just a duffle-ful of laundry, spoon, chopsticks, and if I can
remember to pack it - a couple of sachets of soy sauce. A
thermos of tea would be nice, but I'm out of tea.
Oh yeah ... I use a milk crate. I'm not a purist ;-)
The last time I sustained road rash, I just made a bee-line for
the liquor store, picked up a mickey of Bacardi Gold, got home,
and made another bee-line for the shower (mickey in hand.)
Then I hiked up the street to the drugstore and bought a bunch
of gauze sponges and some cheap knock-off of 3M MicroPore[tm]
tape that didn't stick worth a damn.
Money is a lot lighter to pack around than a bunch of stuff.
cheers,
Tom
