The blackberries are already starting to ripen.
I'm not usually much of a dessert person, but warm blackberry
compote poured over a big, fluffy dumpling and topped with a
scoop of ice cream can be a toothsome delight. Heck, it can
almost be a main course.
cheers,
Tom

Lucky you: here in Las Vegas on Friday it was 103F, and you can believe
me when I say my ride home from work was no picnic, although it was
somewhat like a barbecue.

I haven't been feeling the need for any desserts lately. I've been
gorging on the Rainier and Bing cherries available very cheaply at
my local asian grocer. I think last time I popped down there on the
bike I picked up 6 pounds of Bings and 4 pounds of Rainiers. I
haven't managed to make them into anything, because they are just so
good by themselves.
