GT Bicyles any good???

Hi there...I'm looking for a good starter road bike. Something decent
but not overly expensive. The local bike shop is pushing a GT ZR4.0
which is GT's entry level road bike. Anyone have an opinion on this
bike?

I would actually really like to get a higher end used bike and then
have it tuned up considering the excellent deals that pop up in the
paper/bargain finder.

I would be willing to spend 750 Canadian for either used or new.
