Get off the ROAD!!! (Another bike commuting story)

Friday, while I was riding home from work I came to a stop behind a car
at a red light The car had a large box in the trunk and it's hazard
lights were flashing. We took off when the light turned green. The
driver of the car was obviously very worried about dumping the payload
on the road. So at about 21 or 22mph his speed no longer increased. I
had been doing 27 - 30mph up to that point. I decided he was going too
slow for me and I would pass him. So I looked behind me and the road
was clear. I pulled out and got around the car. I pulled back over to
the right and kept going. I pulled away from the car and finished my
ride. I only had to go about one more mile, but that was the first time
I can remember passing a car on the left .

Get off the road? No, not really.

Did you ring your bell, or say 'Bike up' as you rode by his window?

Ring-A-Ling!!

I do clip in and out of my pedals when I am riding on the greenway and
about to pass a walker. They turn around and have a look of fear on
their faces sometimes. Other times they completely ignore me.
