You're joking, right? Continental offers sponsorship, and some teams to
whom it is offered accept it. Others prefer to be sponsored by
Vittoria, Hutchinson, Michelin, etc. As the teams consider the (free to
them) tires to be disposable, they don't care if they last 500 miles or
not - they only have to get through 200 miles before they throw them
away and put on new (free) ones.
Conti's are good tires, but let's take choice of equipment for what it
pretty much is.
