Seat for small woman

My wife has started riding again but finds her bike seat extremely
uncomfortable and complains it's causing soreness in the sit-bone
area. She also complains about the nose of the saddle (no specific
complaint other than wishing it weren't there).

She's got an MTB with an old Performance gel seat. Ultimately she
really needs a "comfort" bike with seatpost suspension but it's not in
the cards this year.

In the meantime, I'm looking for recommendations for a good beginner
seat for a small woman who only rides occasionally.
