I think the interesting part is that they just got new sponsers. And I
have to believe those new sponsers aren't going to sponser the team
(including rolling Lance out as was shown on something I caught on OLN
called "The Lance Chronicles"). So my guess is that he already agreed to
race and probably do the TDF in some capacity. What would be interesting
is if somewhere during the season it became apparent he wasn't the
strongest rider (could happen in a year's time, who knows) and ended up
helping someone else. I doubt that will happen. But that would be more
entertaining and more compelling a story than Lance going out for #7 with
Team Discovery.

I would be very surprised if Discovery Communications signed on for
sponsorship of the team without some assurance from Lance that he would at
least go one more year in the spotlight. And the TdF *is* the spotlight.
