decent brake pads for old 600 caliper

I went to the LBS to get some pads and the cheapest they had were a set of
Koolstop salmons for 25 bucks. Cough. Outta my league--I've used the
Salmons before on a set of cantis--they were great, but cost only ten
bucks for that model. I'd like to spend around that much again or a smidge
more.

At any rate, I've been using some cheap Vbrake pads I got at Target (it
was a Sunday, and it was the best I could do) on the old 600 calipers and
they work decently, but aren't confidence inspiring.

I was thinking of even getting a set of the Nashbar long reach brakes. At
$30 on sale, it's a front and rear brake set with pads for 5 more than
just the rubber at the LBS! But the old 600 arms are just too pretty to
give up.

Waddaya think? What's a decent pad for <15 bucks, and should I get over
the cosmetics of the old 600s and get the Nashbar long reach brakes?
