However, the parts were sampled and then played through midi. Thus, it
was not entirely done on bicycle parts. Still cool, but there is
technology behind it.

There was a link to the guy who "created" (collected and mixed) it a few
weeks ago. Said a video was in the works.

Meantime, the version on Specialized's site is bit clearer (looking):

THAT is awesome. Thanks for the link. I'm gonna have to send that to
some friends, even if it IS from Specialized (though I'm sure it would
sound better played on titanium bike parts, of course).

Frank Zappa did a composition back in his early days that was played on
the tuned spokes of a bicycle wheel. All of the spokes were tuned to a
different pitch and someone was "playing" the wheel like a xylophone by
tapping the different spokes. Very weird sounding, but cool in a way too.
