Hey there, I am smiling, it is all good, this is another day and
therefore another day closer to Spring when I can go outside with my
wheels and breath the fresh air and get my legs and lungs going. Yes,
I could do this probably in the cold, but I prefer the warmer weather.

Also helped that I had a nice evening out last night playing pool and
dancing at a local club with a true gentleman, so I have a smile of
hope because I know there are many men out there who have good
intentions straight. And this one is interested in trying out the
trails on the mountain bike, so if I can't sell the Liberator, it'll
come in useful eventually. Not the best season to sell: who would use
it this time of year?

I'll open the gifts with my girlfriends in the complex; we're getting
together b/c none of us is going to visit family and we all live alone.
We have a 2 a.m. rule: if one of us is going out, we tell the others;
the rule is to check in on or before 2 a.m. Hey none of us has brothers
to protect us here, so we gotta look out for each other. I'll be using
this rule when I go out of the city mountain biking on my own. I can't
find any girls in this area to bike with, plus everyone's schedule is
so different.

Gifts: If it's chocolate, it's staying here (to get me through the
winter!) and if it's biking stuff - for sure, I'll send it to
California first class. Since I'd already picked up his gift back in
late October over the internet, biking apparel, I'll send that along
too.

Christmas Eve: mass for the true meaning of Christmas. I'm happy with
my gift of peace of mind, even with all the other stuff: I'll be fine.

Oh, and thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt: you responded
well to the Troll's postings about me. Google "Mary" on this group,
esp the Ravenshoe post, a classic one I found which led me to why I
broke up with that Troll.

Nope not yet. It's been a mild winter in MI so far. Haven't even had to
break out the snow wheels for my Curtlo yet. But with the milder weather
came lots of rain so the trails have been more muddy than normal.
Especially when we do get a bit of frost at night that thaws out during the
day.

To catch up with you a bit, here's a link to my latest ride:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] If I recall
correctly, you're not all that big a fan of the larger wheels but for me
they serve a useful purpose in that they enable me to finally get my
handlebar right where I need it without the use of risers or funky stems.
And the larger wheels coupled with 100mm travel front and rear is just the
ticket for my F'd up back.

Very nice ride. Not many steel FSes out there and I like that top-tube
design.

But I'm sure Doug could have built you a bike that fit with mtn bike
wheels, too. I had a couple of co-workers back before the first round
of 700c wheels didn't catch on who are JD-sized that had Curtlos and
they fit fine.

In-between can be worse than frozen, eh? It's finally good here after
a few dust settler storms.

Is it magical? It's nice to see Sherwood teamed up with Curtlo. His
quad bearing pivots are so hassle-free.

I am into 27ers now anyways and am starting my own wheel size
revolution:

JD about to go spin a few more revolutions.

Thanks, I think Doug did a very nice job on this frame.

What kind of fork did your co-workers use on their Curtlos? I run forks
with uncut 265 mm fork steerer tubes on my 26" wheeled Curtlo hardtails and
I still have to use 15 degree stems and a 1.5" riser handlebar to get my
grips up where I want.

To do a 26" bike with a flat bar and "normal" stems with a similar grip
position would have required a fork with a longer than normal steerer tube.
That would have practically limited me to one brand of fork, White Brothers,
which is the only one I know of that offers an extra long steerer tube
option. I'm glad I didn't go that route because I'm not all that impressed
with the WB Magic 100 that I first had on my bike.. It's small bump
compliance and tunability leave a lot to be desired. No matter how I set
IMV compression adjustment, I just can't seem to get the right feel and
balance with the rear suspension. I much prefer the RockShox Reba Race
that I have on the bike right now.
