 | What is the difference in power of a 15 gear mountain bike and 24 gear mountain bike? I am asking this question considering that i am going up hill. How efficient is 24 gear bike than a 15 gear bike when climbing up the hill? Can anyone give me exact amount of maximum power these both bikes give?

| Bicycles don't GIVE power, they use it. And even a Tour de France level cyclist only puts out just over 1/2 HP consistently. Top sprinters can reach 3 HP for a short time, and yours truly tops out at about 400 Watts.

| I think the higher the amount of gears the more subtle the changes can be made. Like if you're going up hill sometimes it'll feel too lose so you go up a gear; but you go up and its too tight. So I think 24 would give you more options than 15
