Gino Bartali, Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (July 18, 1914 - May 5, 2000) was an Italian professional road racing cyclist. He was the most renowned Italian cyclist prior to the Second World War, having won the Giro d'Italia twice (in 1936 and 1937) and the Tour de France in 1938. His second and last win in 1948 placed him in the record books for having the largest gap between victories in the French race.
