It's actually too hot here in Chicago. I'm working today, though not too
hard, and I overdressed for the ride in. This is shirtsleeve weather. My
fingers enjoyed being out in the open air for a change this morning.

The weather has made it easy to keep commuting by bicycle, although I
skipped a couple of days Christmas week. I've driven rental cars several
times during out-of-town trips this year, but I cannot recall driving my own
car more than twice since May -- once for an airport pickup and once
Christmas shopping. Of course I've been a passenger plenty of times with
other family members, so it would be cheating to call myself car free, but I
drive so seldom now no one wants to see me behind the wheel.

Re: end of year bike commute numbers

About 4000KM's here... I can only estimate since the bicycle with the
cyclocomputer was stolen months ago. 20KM round trip for however many days I
had classes, plus all the other riding around 365 car-free days.

The last 2 weeks have had too much snow on the ground to cycle safely on the
roads, so I've taken to walking everywhere. It's pretty easy, you just gotta
give yourself time to get there at almost exactly 5km/h.

Re: end of year bike commute numbers

I rode today (12/31/04) to finally make the 2400 mile mark for the
year although it was a bit colder than I like, at 22F. In fact my toes
were 46F after I got home and in the house (measured with infrared
thermometer).
