People take life too seriously. None of us are getting out of it alive.
We might as well keep it simple while we are still here. I grew up
with the Beatles and the Stones, I don't profess to know anything about
their personal lives. I didn't know them. They are musical icons, not
personal friends. Who knows the reasons behind Brian Jones' death, or
what the heck happened to Dennis Wilson that day. I'm still trying to
figure out if Natalie Wood was killed or if she just decided to jump
off the boat or was pushed. Many unanswered questions in life. Was
Marilyn Monroe murdered, or did she OD? Why did Jim Morrison move to
France and die in a bathtub? Where are all the singing groups that
invaded the US in the sixties and is Gary Puckett still in the union at
the gap? And where were you the day the music died....driving your
chevy to the levy? Unless you can find a way to crawl inside another
persons head to hear his thoughts, we really do not know sh*t about
anyone. Especially musical icons.
All Good Things,
Maggie.
As the ever cool and ever handsome John Travolta said in that
intellectual musical GREASE.....THE RULES ARE...THERE ARE NO RULES.
All Good things,
Maggie

I certainly wouldn't claim to know the exact circumstances, details,
or reasons for the deaths mentioned. My problem is anyone posting
inaccurate information. Why post anything, if you don't know the
facts. little bill says that he wasn't trying to be accurate. Well,
that is bull****, this isn't a creative writing newsgroup. If you
don't know what you are talking about, why would you feel compelled to
post misinformation.
Maggie, from the references made above, you obviously know a bit about
music history. On the other hand, little bill doesn't. Unfortunately
that doesn't stop him from polluting the newsgroup.

I don't profess to know anything about music history. I know what I
lived through, what I enjoyed, who I admired, and who I put on replay.
I will never see or hear music like the music of the sixties again.
That was my life. And some of the icons are still around. Its freaking
amazing. Except for Jim Morrison - Mr. Mojo Rising, and a few others
including Janis Joplin....we are still privileged to have these legends
still around. Who will be another Clapton, or Dylan? Who will form a
group like the Stones, or will we ever have another Beatlemania? The
sixties was a wonderful time for music. Music with poetry and prose and
words that made you feel something. Music that made you think and feel.
Music with a political flair, music with a conscious. It was good.
Very, very good. It was the time to be a teenager. A time to remember.
But it did not last forever as Billy Joel said....because THEN CAME
DISCO. Enough said.

Well Kudos to you Art for finding that song...
That dirty no good robbin' Maggie Mae
To the port of Liverpool
They returned me to
Two pounds ten a week, that was my pay
Art, a true Beatles fan. To know that the Beatles sang Maggie Mae. I
prefer to be the Maggie Mae of Rod Stewart fame though.
I know I keep you amused,
but I feel I'm being used,
Oh Maggie I wish I'd never seen your face..
You made a first class fool out of me, I was blind as a fool could
be...you stole my soul ..but I love you anyway.....
Thank you for finding my song Art.
All Good things
Maggie.

Aye, both good tunes!
I agree with your opinion of '60s music. I don't think anyone will be
listening to much of the 2005 music 40 years from now. Good to have
Dylan and a few of the other aging icons still with us and creating
music. Even Donovan has a new album out - a strange one, but fun to
listen to. Heard him being interviewed on WNYC during the holidays.
