straddle the bike so your feet touch the ground, walk yourself forward to gain momentum. as you pick up some speed start to "ski" with your feet instead of walking. as you learn to balance better lift your feet higher off the ground and farther away from the bike. once your comfortable with that, bring your legs back in and coast with them on the pedals. then start to pedal slowly, not so much that it drives the bike forward but just so you can get a sense of the motion your feet will be making.

as soon as you think your ready, go for it, kick off forward and start peddling.

Note: don't expect to go thru all these steps at once. 2-3 trips up and down the street at each stage sure won't hurt.

why don't you want training wheels? I mean they were invented specifically to help people learn to ride a bike... don't be embarrassed, we all had to learn how to do it once too...

In my opinion training wheels dont help at all, theyre like cheating. Just pace back and forth with short distances trying to balance.

The way we learn any skill is by practice, practice, and more practice. Why don't you, first, try to ride on the grass, in case you lose your balance and fall. And also try to look straight ahead instead of down because we keep our balance better if we look up (you can test this out by trying to walk on a straight line somewhere; if you look down, you will undoubtedly lose your balance; if you look straight ahead, you will probably be able to keep your balance). Take care.

you really don't know how to ride a bike?!? Woww...well start off slow and keep your feet by the ground so if you start to fall you can catch yourself and be calm and not nervous and start out on a flat surface.. hope I helped and good luck!!
