I have an old Schwinn Twinn tandem. My daughter persuaded me to let her take
it to school last fall, along with her regular bike, a desktop computer,
stereo, clothes, etc. I fit three people and all this stuff inside a Ford
Windstar minivan. For the tandem, it was:
Fenders off
Front wheel and back wheel off
Third seat removed.
Tandem all the way to the right, so there was some climbing over it if one
wanted to get into the second seat.
The tandem was upside down, so the handlebars controlled side-to-side
motion.
This worked OK, but I don't think we are going to repeat this next year.
